Day 9 Arrived at St John

In the Gym for 06.30, took a break at 07.00 to take pics of our arrival.
Quick brekkie ( as not eaten enough and worried blood sugar is plunging)
Then off on a bus tour of St John, hop on hop off type. This was an unexpected change of itinary due to the tornado damage at other ports but it actually gives us a chance to see the place as on our return leg we call here again but are off whale watching.
St John is famous for its lobster and luckily for me, my task is to eat lobster with photographically evidence.
Further update to come…..

Everything went to plan, we got off the ship after our obligitory breakfast, had scrambled egg and salmon for a change but had to send the eggs back as they didn’t look right and they sent some freshly cooked ones that looked and tasted a lot better, Al had fruit, think Trace had fruit and David had the traditional breakfadt minus hash browns 🙂

Did the hop on/hop off bus tour but to be honest the quide made it as she was so funny and a true Royalist as she had met 4 generations of the Royal family, including Princess Di. There was no real reason to hop off as she explained everything so well and we did hop off for 5 mins at the reversing waterfalls but they were not due to be reversed/forced in the opposite direction by the biggest high tide in Canada until after the ship would have been leaving.

Got off near to the ship and found a lovely bar that served Lobster rolls and chips all washed down with Moose Head Lager, very nice indeed.

We thought the bar would be packed but as the ship was actually in site, most people went back on board for the free food/drink and missed out on the lobster and local beer.

We leave in about 15 mins so will update further once we are back at sea….

Leaving St John

We left St John to a fanfare played on the ships horn, this is done everytime we leave port. Our cabin was now on the sunny side which was amazing and that also meant that the sunset was also on our side, will add pics later but the pics don’t do these amazing sunsets justice, just amazing.

We watched the ship leave, spent some time on the sunny balcony Whale watching (total Whales seen so far… ZERO)

We then had another amazing meal before throwing away a few dollars in the casino, sampling a bit too many cocktails and back in bed for 11 ish

Day at sea and formal evening tomorrow before New York the following morning
